FBI Searches Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Home Donald Trump, a former president, claimed Monday that the FBI had “raided” his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida and even broken into his safe. A source familiar with the investigation had said that the search was related to secret documents Trump is said to have brought from the White House to his Palm Beach resort when he left office. The FBI did perform an “unannounced raid” and seized documents, according to Christina Bobb, a lawyer for Trump who claimed to have been present during the search on Monday. She also stated that Trump and his staff had cooperated with FBI and DOJ authorities every step of the way. Trump was required to return 15 boxes of wrongfully removed White House records this year, the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) said in February. The Justice Department was requested by the National Archives and Records Administration to investigate whether Trump’s treatment of White House records violated federal law the same month.
